ENVIRONMENT AGENCY WORKS AFFECT A26

We have been made aware that the Environment Agency will be undertaking works connected to the Newhaven Flood Alleviation Scheme that will impact the A26.

This will be from 9.30-15.30 Monday-Friday from 25 November for two weeks and will involve the closure of the southbound carriageway.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place, and provision has been made for the beams being delivered for the Port Access Road.

This work will install a demountable flood gate on the A26 for use in times of excess flooding to help protect key business areas from river-based flooding to the north of Newhaven.
