Maria In New Cross Party Parliamentary Group

Maria Caulfield has joined MPs from across the House of Commons to form a new Parliamentary group on the State Pension Age. The new group will support those women hit by the acceleration of the equalisation of the State Pension Age, first in 1995 and then in 2011.

MP BACKS PARENTS AGAINST SCHOOL CLOSURES

Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes, met with parents over the possible closure of the Rodmell Church of England Primary School and Pells Church of England School.

Lewes Conservative Association AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Lewes Constituency Conservative Association took place in Berwick village hall on Friday the 11th of March. Guest speaker at the event was East Sussex County Council leader Keith Glazier. 

Maria Attends 'Message In A Barrel' Event

Maria Caulfield MP attended the event ‘Message in a Barrel’ - which had been jointly organised by the British Beer & Pub Association, the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group, the Campaign for Real Ale and the Society of Independent Brewers.

MARIA CAULFIELD MP ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF THE CONSERVATIVE BACKBENCH HEALTH COMMITTEE

Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Conservative Backbench Health Committee on Monday the 8th of February. The Committee, which comprises Conservative MPs and Conservative Members of the House of Lords, is reconstituted in every Parliament. Maria was elected Chairman unopposed and the first speaker at the Committee was Baroness Finlay, who is taking through the House of Lords a Bill to improve palliative care, for people with a terminal illness.  

MARIA CAULFIELD MP: HOUSING DARK CLOUD LIFTED FROM DISTRICT

Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes has welcomed news that Lewes District Council is to end its housing plans to develop 42 sites across the District.The news comes following a Council Report on the matter, published today.Maria said: 'I am absolutely delighted that this dark cloud has now been lifted. The proposals were clearly not in keeping with so many neighbourhoods in the area and many of my constituents contacted me about the issue. Many were frankly alarmed at what was being proposed. We do need to build more houses but they have to be in keeping and appropriate for the area.’

"Almost Quicker To Fly To Space" Than Travel Home, says Maria

[BBC NEWS]: Lewes MP Maria Caulfield has said it is almost "quicker to fly to space" than to travel to the south coast from London by train.Conservative Maria Caulfield made the comments about her journey to Lewes ahead of calls for the government to force train firms to improve services.On Tuesday, British astronaut Tim Peake took six-and-a-half hours to get to the International Space Station.Southern rail said recent services had been hit by infrastructure problems, train faults and staffing issues.
